Defined the pearl of the Adriatic, Bibione is the second beach in Italy for number of appearances (about 6 million), boasts a balance between nature and man.
The name, of Latin derivation, means a cordon of sand that separates the lagoon from the sea, Insula bibionensi, hence the name Bibione. In 1956 began the first work to transform Bibione in area of tourism, the creation of the first hotels and shops will bring the island to the right of the Tagliamento, over 50 years, to become the leading tourist destination for families with entertainment for adults and children.
In 2006, exactly 50 years later, presented a number of initiatives to celebrate the anniversary including the creation of a mascot, a smiling crab. Bibione Italy is for its unspoilt nature with unique flora and fauna into the Adriatic. The structures inside the island, make it one of the most competitive scenario in the European tour and world.
For twelve consecutive years, Bibione has received the Blue Flag was established by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), and was the first tourist site in Europe to have obtained the environmental certification EMAS.
Bibione, also, is the first city in the world to have set on the beach a ski slope (25 meters high and about 110 long), open to the public in summer 2007.
